Did you know that Africa has the highest percentage of female entrepreneurs in the world? In sub-Saharan Africa, one out of every four women has started or manages a business. JumpStart Africa is providing access to finance for these women to build thriving businesses & prosper!
JSA is heavily investing in women because we believe they are the best bet at solving household poverty and so proficient when it comes to managing household finances. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), women’s economic participation and their ownership and control of productive assets speeds up development, helps overcome poverty, reduces inequalities, and improves children’s nutrition, health, and school attendance. The bottom line is women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. This is why JumpStart Africa is convinced that providing Micro Loans to these women will result in sustainable poverty solutions both immediately and in the long run.
